Apple TV is undoubtedly the most versatile and user-friendly media streaming box one can ever buy. From streaming your favorite content to playing games and mirroring a Facetime call, Apple TV offers an all-in-one solution to every entertainment lover out there.

The only issue is you have to keep your Apple TV remote working in order to make it work correctly.

Now, despite the fact that the Apple TV remote is quite easy to use, many users may run into the trouble of pairing the Apple TV remote with their Apple devices. But fret not as this is exactly what we’re going to discuss in today’s article.

How to Pair Apple TV Remote?

If you're using an Apple TV remote that was made in 2022, the process for pairing it with your Apple TV is different than it was in 2020 and before. Here's how to do it:

  • First, ensure your Apple TV is powered on and connected to your television
  • Then, open the Settings app on your Apple TV and go to the Remotes and Devices menu
  • On the Remotes and Devices menu, you should see an option for "Pair new remote"
  • Select this option and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing process
  • If you're having trouble completing the pairing process, make sure that you're holding you're remote close to your Apple TV (within a few inches) and that nothing is blocking the infrared receiver on your Apple TV. You might also need to try restarting your Apple TV

If you have a new or replacement Apple TV remote, you'll need to pair it with your Apple TV 4K by following simple instructions:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple TV
  • Go to Remotes and Devices
  • If you see "Pair new remote," select it. If you don't see "Pair new remote," continue to the next step

  • After a few moments, your remote should be paired with your Apple TV

Pairing Apple TV 3rd Generation with Your Remote

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple TV
  • Select General
  • Choose Remotes
  • Tap Learn Remote
  • Press and hold the Menu and Volume Up buttons on your remote for about six seconds or until you see a light flash on the front of your Apple TV
  • If you don't see a light flash, try again from step four. Your remote is now paired with your Apple TV

For Apple TV ( third generation), you need to connect your remote to the Lightning port on your Apple TV.

If you're using an infrared remote, you may need to hold your remote close to the front of your Apple TV and point it directly at the device. If you see a message that says "No Response," try moving your remote closer to the front of your Apple TV.

If you're using an aluminum Apple Remote, you may need to replace the batteries in your remote. If you see a message that says "Battery Low," it's time to change the batteries in your remote. You can find replacement batteries at most electronic stores.

If you are using Apple TV, 2nd generation or later, your remote should take just a few moments. Here's how:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple TV
  • Select Remotes and Devices
  • Select Bluetooth
  • If you don't see "Bluetooth," verify that your Apple TV software is up to date
  • On your remote, press and hold the Menu button and Volume Up button simultaneously for at least six seconds or until you see the light on the front of your remote flash rapidly
  • You should see "Apple TV Remote" under Other Devices on your Apple TV. Select it to finish pairing your remote

If you can't pair your remote or see a message that says "Accessibility mode is on," try these steps.

  • On your Apple TV, open the Settings app
  • Select Accessibility
  • Press the switch control and turn it off

Pairing Apple TV 1st Generation with Your Remote

If you have an Apple TV (Generation One), pairing your remote is a little different. To pair your remote:

  • Open the Settings menu on your Apple TV
  • Choose the "Remotes and Devices" option
  • Select the "Bluetooth" option
  • Put your remote in pairing mode by holding the Menu and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for six seconds. You should see a message that says "Pairing Mode"
  • On your Apple TV, select the option to "Add New Device"
  • You should see your remote appear in the list of devices. Select it to pair it with your Apple TV
  • Once you've paired your remote, you can use it to control your Apple TV. If you have any problems, make sure your remote is in pairing mode and try again
