Paramount Plus is a nice streaming service. I enjoy watching live sports, catching breaking news, and downloading many other shows and movies for offline viewing when I'm fishing.
But my 128GB Samsung phone gave me a huge headache. It would often tell me "storage almost full" after downloading just a few TV episodes, which pushed me to start exploring ways to save Paramount Plus downloads to SD card.
I did several tests on my Android phone and summarized the progress into 4 steps. Hope this can help you out with the low phone storage.
Quick Guide (My Test & Results):
1. What I can do: Download videos via the Paramount+ app, with Paramount+ Premium.
2. What I can't do:
- Watch downloads forever
- Get the downloaded video files directly via the official app.
3. Where are Paramount Plus downloads: They're encrypted & hidden. → Section3
4. How to save Paramount Plus download to SD Card: Export Paramount+ shows into MP4 format and move the compatible video files into SD Card or USB drive. → Section 4.2
Can You Download on Paramount?
To begin with, let's answer this question: "Can you download it on Paramount Plus?" Like many streaming sites, Paramount+ allows its subscribers to save shows for offline viewing, with strict limits.
Necessary Items
The right plan and a supported device are 2 necessary items to download episodes on Paramount Plus.
Plan: The download service is only available for Paramount+ Premium Plan at $12.99/mo. or 119.99/yr. That is the new name for the old "with Showtime" tier as of June 23, 2025.
Updated on 29 Oct. 2025
Device: According to blogs from Paramount Plus Help Center, only the 2 types of devices are supported for downloading content: iPhone/iPad (iOS 16+) or Android tablets/phones (Android 7+). If you try on a laptop or in a browser, you will not see a Download button.
Limits and Expiration
When using the Paramount+ app to download videos, pay attention to the rules:
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Max offline titles | About 25 titles in total across all devices |
| Viewing window if unwatched | Expire in 30 days or before your subscription ends |
| Viewing window if played | Expire in 48 hours |
| Simultaneous Streaming | Only stream on 3 devices at the same time. |
There are also other potential limits, such as "Not all titles are available for download". Read Paramount Plus Download Limits Explained and How Long Do Paramount Plus Downloads Last to learn more.
How to Download on Paramount Plus?
Want to directly download movies on Paramount Plus and save them on your phones or tablets? I summarize the download steps based on the official info and my usage:
1. Find the Download Icon: Next to the show or movie you want to watch, you'll see a download button.
2. Tap to Download: Click on the download button to start the process. You can keep using the Paramount+ app while your download is in progress.
3. Check Your Progress: You'll see a progress bar to track your download.
4. Watch Offline: Once the download is finished, tap the "Completed" icon to start watching.
To find all the downloaded videos, tap Menu > Downloads. Based on the offline viewing rules mentioned above, these videos can be watched without an internet connection via the Paramount+ app.
Where to Find Your Paramount Plus Downloads?
It's impossible to directly find the downloaded video files on your mobile phone. Because all videos downloaded via the official app are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) and encrypted.
Have you ever wondered why Paramount Plus takes up so much storage on your device? In fact, the app itself will take up 130+ MB. What's more, if you prefer to save high-quality videos in 1080p or higher, the size of downloaded episodes or films can be up to several GB.
Estimated size of each download based on my tests
For mobile device users, especially iOS users, tight storage must be a big problem. Android users can use an external SD card to add additional storage, but iOS users are not allowed to do it.
Don't worry, I'll introduce a universal way to help you download Paramount Plus videos to SD card and a special trick for Android phones in the following section.
How to Save Paramount Plus Downloads to SD Card?
Different from Netflix or Prime Video, Paramount Plus doesn't allow users to download videos to an SD card by default. But this problem can be easily solved with the workaround: download Paramount Plus videos into MP4 format and move them to any external storage device, like an SD Card.
Verified Method: Use KeepStreams for Paramount Plus
KeepStreams is a well-known brand for downloading videos from many streaming services into compatible MP4/MKV video files. And KeepStreams for Paramount Plus is one tool specific to the Paramount+ platform.
It can help you download Paramount Plus videos into an SD card and even solve the Paramount+ downloads not working problems. How? The top features of this tool will reveal the reason.
KeepStreams can download videos from Paramount Plus in 1080p and convert them into MP4/MKV format. In this way, you can move downloads to and play them on any device you like, such as a computer, mobile device, game console, or even TV.
As mentioned above, the default download option on Paramount Plus comes with a few limitations: an offline viewing window of about 48 hours or 30 days, a 25-title cap, a Premium subscription required, etc.
With the MP4/MKV files downloaded by KeepStreams, you can download Paramount Plus videos even with an Essential Plan, save the downloads forever on your local library, and most importantly, transfer the downloads to an SD Card or USB drive easily.
Of course, other Paramount Plus video downloaders or video recorders can do this too. But I still recommend KeepStreams. Here's the reason:
| Features/Tool | KeepStreams for Paramount Plus | Video Recorder |
| Max Quality | Full HD 1080p | Degraded 1080p |
| Output Format | MP4 or MKV | MP4 |
| Speed (for a 2-hour film) | About 10 minutes | 2 hour |
| Auto-Download | ✔️ | ❌ |
| Batch Download | ✔️ | ✔️ |
| Subs Extracting | ✔️ | ❌ |
| Supported OS | Windows/Mac | Windows/Mac |

Bonus: Android Possibility and More Tips to Free Up Space
Some Android phones offer "format SD as internal storage" (a.k.a. adoptable storage). It merges SD into internal memory, which can bypass the Paramount Plus app and indirectly help downloads fit—but availability and stability vary by manufacturer.
1. Back up the SD card: Insert the microSD card. Copy any important files off it first because you will format it.
2. Open Settings and go to Storage: Find your SD card under Portable or External storage and tap it.
3. Open the card’s menu: Tap the three-dot menu and choose Storage settings.
4. Format as internal: Choose Format as internal (or similar). Confirm to erase the card and set it up as internal storage.
5. Move content and finish: When prompted, select Move content so Android shifts apps and data. Tap Done. Your phone now uses the SD card as internal storage.
A slow SD card can hurt performance. Android may warn you if the card is too slow. Illustration is from the Lifewire tech blog.
How to Better Free up Space on iOS and Android?
These steps are fast and easy to do when you download videos via the official app:
- Lower the download quality.
- Turn on auto-delete for watched items.
- Remove finished seasons in bulk.
- Move personal photos and non-DRM files to SD or iCloud.
Is it Legal to Export Paramount Plus Videos?
Paramount+ uses DRM to protect shows and movies. Bypassing protection, copying files, or redistributing content may violate the Terms of Use and copyright laws. If you want offline viewing with the least risk, use the official app and manage storage inside the app.
When using any external tool to handle your Paramount Plus content, be cautious and do not download hundreds of titles in a short time. Most importantly, never share, sell, or redistribute your downloads.
FAQs
Q1. Is it legal to export Paramount Plus videos?
A1. Paramount+ videos are protected by DRM and Paramount's Terms of Use. Although it's acceptable to save videos for personal offline viewing, redistributing or selling files is not allowed. Use an extra tool and the downloads with caution.
Q2. Can I download on Paramount+ Essential?
A2. No. Downloads require the Paramount+ Premium plan. Essential does not support offline viewing. Switch to Premium in your account if you want to download shows and movies on your phone or tablet.
Q3. Can I download Paramount Plus videos on a laptop or to a USB drive?
A3. It's impossible via the Paramount Plus app. PC and web do not support offline downloads. Files from the mobile app are protected and will not play from a USB drive. If you really need to save downloads to a USB, try to download videos in MP4 files first.
Q4. Where are my downloads on Paramount Plus?
A4. Open the Paramount+ app. Tap More, then Downloads to view, play, or delete saved items. If it is empty, the title may not allow offline viewing in your region, or it has expired under the 30-day and 48-hour rules.
Q5. How to fix the "download limit reached" problem?
A5. Delete older downloads to free up slots. Clear the app cache. Sign out and back in. Update the Paramount+ app and your device OS. And finally, try downloading again after these steps.
Q6. How to quickly troubleshoot Paramount Plus downloads not working?
A6. Check your internet connection. Update the app and your phone’s OS. Confirm you are on Premium. Make sure the title is eligible for offline viewing in your region. Lower download quality to save space. Clear the cache and restart the app, then try again.
Conclusion
If you are on Premium and using the mobile app, Paramount+ offline works well for travel and spotty Wi-Fi. The catch is storage. Most people hit limits long before they run out of things to watch.
In my tests, dropping from 1080p to 720p doubled how many episodes I could keep for the weekend. And using KeepStreams for Paramount Plus or other external tools to download Paramount Plus videos to an SD card or USB drive can thoroughly free up the internal storage space of my phone.
If you're still troubled by the insufficient storage, try downloading movies on Paramount Plus into compatible video files in this way. But do not violate the law and Terms of Use and share your downloads.
