[2026 Updated] 6 CleverGet Alternatives: Pros and Cons Review

This post introduces 3 common drawbacks of CleverGet and the top 6 CleverGet alternatives, covering my personal test, public review, and more.

CleverGet is a brand that offers a video downloading service. It provides a desktop suite for ripping videos from websites. The tools include service-specific downloaders (HBO Max Downloader, Netflix Downloader, etc.) and format-oriented downloaders (MPD Downloader, added in v17).

Although CleverGet claims that it can support "1000+ websites" and "resolution up to 8K", its cons might leave you looking for CleverGet alternatives. At least for me. I decided to find an alternative when I found it kept failing to download newly released episodes on Apple TV+.

And that's the reason why I wrote this review. (Directly jump to the Top 6 CleverGet Alternative part ➡️)

Compliance Disclaimer: The information provided in this review is for educational and troubleshooting purposes. Downloading copyrighted video content should strictly be for personal use.

Is CleverGet Free to Use? Who's It For?

CleverGet

As an all-in-one video downloading solution, CleverGet provides single downloaders, bundle products, and an all-in-one tool to meet the needs of different audiences.

No one wants to pay for a tool until they're sure it's actually useful. So the CleverGet free trial is very important for new users.

Is CleverGet Free to Use? Trial Version Explained

CleverGet isn't freeware. It offers a limited free trial and paid licenses. Starting at $49.95 per year, you need to pay to unlock the full features. What's worse, CleverGet only provides an annual plan and a lifetime plan.

The free version of CleverGet allows new users to download 3 videos in total for free. It's enough to verify the compatibility and overall progress.

Who Should (Not) Use CleverGet?

✅ A good fit if you want a desktop app with wide coverage of most major streaming services, configurable outputs (MP4/MKV), and specific modules for the platforms you actually use.

❌ Not a fit if you expect comprehensive support of minor platforms in different countries, guaranteed 4K/HDR across every streaming service, or if you prefer all-web, no-install tools. Consider the trial first to test your services and titles.

Why Look for CleverGet Alternatives? The Real Drawbacks Review

No doubt, CleverGet comes equipped with many pros and handy features. But it also has non-negligible drawbacks, some of which have been uncovered in my last CleverGet Review. Recently, I also did my own testing and collected feedback from public reviews:

No. 1
Pricing adds up

Especially when you need multiple services or want the All-in-One lifetime bundle (often at about $499.9 before promos, the Windows version is more expensive). Budget-sensitive users may prefer cheaper per-service apps or sales.

No. 2
Behavior changes with site updates

Streaming sites roll out updates and tighten DRM often. Capabilities (quality, audio tracks, even login flows) can change, forcing you to wait for app updates. Actually, this is a common problem for similar tools, but for CleverGet, which updates slowly, the experience is even worse.

cleverget update timeline

No. 3
Lagging Progress Bar & Slow Speed

Users found that the CleverGet download is not smooth. It gets stuck at 76%, 99% or any point that you're about to finish downloading the video.

What's worse, based on my test, the download speed is not satisfactory. I spent about 25 minutes downloading Zootopia (1080p) from Disney+! I know it's a film about 2 hours, but the speed really tortured me.

6 Best CleverGet Alternatives: Data Analysis and Review

Review CleverGet Netflix Downloader Review KeepStreams Review SameMovie Video Downloader Review MovPilot Review TunePat Review N/A N/A
  • Information is from the official site and the articles of each brand. Updated on June 2026.
  • Video/audio quality, subs saving, auto-download, ad-removal, and other functions vary by service, title, and DRM. Treat "4K/8K" as source-dependent marketing, not a blanket promise.

While official streaming apps do offer offline downloads, they are heavily restricted. Official downloads expire within 48 hours, disappear immediately if the streaming license is pulled, and are strictly locked by DRM to specific devices (often ignoring Mac/PC completely).

To bypass these limitations and create a stable, DRM-free offline library strictly for personal use, users turn to third-party tools. Here is how the top alternatives stack up.

I did a test on my MacBook Pro. Here's how:

I installed the newest versions of these apps, signed in to my paid streaming accounts, and ran the same episode across tools (on a 1 Gbps wired line). As they ran, I noted down:

  1. How long it takes to finish.
  2. Any errors or ways it failed.
  3. What audio and subtitle options are available.
  4. The settings of the final video file.

After my own tests, I cross-referenced my findings with public reviews from the last 12 months (Trustpilot, forums, review blogs) to see if my experience matched the community.

1. KeepStreams Video One: Supporting 3000+ Sites

steve
Steve
Best for people who want wide site coverage and frequent updates without learning curves.

The first downloader on our list of the best CleverGet alternatives is KeepStreams Video One! It's a highly capable video downloading platform that processes content in various resolutions ranging from 720p and 1080p, all the way up to 4K/8K depending on the source.

As for download speed, KeepStreams (I tested Version 2.0.2.4) can download a 2-hour movie in around 10 minutes over a stable Wi-Fi connection. Moreover, it's more budget-friendly. In short, it addresses almost every drawback CleverGet has. You can enjoy its free trial by downloading KeepStreams with the links below:

In my tests on recent dramas, batch jobs occasionally paused on episode lists until I re-authenticated the service—once fixed by clearing cookies and restarting the app, everything ran smoothly. On community sites, some users see KeepStreams as versatile but "pricey for casual use", while others highly praise its support responsiveness.

Troubleshooting Tip: If you encounter an "Analysis Failed" or perpetual loading error when adding multiple videos to your batch queue, it is typically a session timeout issue. Navigate to the built-in browser settings, clear your browser cookies, log back into the streaming platform, and try parsing the URL again.

I also did a detailed review of the customer feedback for both KeepStreams and CleverGet (based on TrustPilot data). According to the 53 KeepStreams user reviews and 27 CleverGet ones, we can see that KeepStreams gets significantly more positive comments, especially regarding customer support.

  • Wide site coverage
  • Simple UI
  • Subtitles retained on many services
  • MP4/MKV conversion

Cons

  • Occasional re-login/batch quirks during site updates

2. SameMovie All-in-one Video Downloader

steve
Steve
Best for viewers who want focused, service-specific downloaders with simple workflows.

SameMovie offers separate apps for Netflix/Prime/Disney+/Hulu/Max/Paramount+, providing MP4/MKV outputs and multi-audio/subs (varies by app). It's lightweight and easy to navigate.

It strictly observes legal copyright regulations and claims not to break DRM copy protection. I tested version 1.3.1, and it handles 1080p, 720p, and 640p downloads quite steadily.

samemovie

When configuring options, I noticed there are no exact resolution drop-downs, only High, Medium, and Low. Sometimes, even if I select "High", the final video output appears closer to 720p.

On two Netflix titles, I hit a "license refresh" loop that eventually resolved after patching to the newest build. Several public comments on Reviews.io praise the ease of use, though some dedicated users wish for pure Netflix 4K support and faster update cycles.

Pros
  • Broad compatibility and stable performance
  • 24 languages Support
  • MP4 or MKV formats output
Cons
  • Not guaranteed Full-HD on every platform
  • Sometimes fails to scrape all episodes in a playlist
  • Can be a costly option over time
  • No built-in browser

3. MovPilot Video Downloader

steve
Steve
Best for users who want videos from the specific 7 top platforms and prefer a lifetime subscription.

Movpilot acts as a dedicated downloader for major OTT platforms, converting everything into MP4/MKV format automatically upon download.

While MovPilot (tested on Version 1.6.1) only supports 7 major streaming services and several video-sharing sites, the lifetime plan ($169.95) is very attractive. The catch? The trial version only allows downloading the first 6 minutes of a movie.

movpilot

I tried to download a sci-fi show with MovPilot, and it hung twice right at the 20% mark. Technical logs indicated it was looping a playback permission request. This was eventually fixed after a minor app update, but the processing speed remained fairly slow.

Checking Trustpilot reveals similar sentiments. Users occasionally experience freezing, mismatched subtitle tracks (especially for regional languages like Hindi), and general sluggishness during processing.

Pros
  • Simple MP4/MKV output
  • Reasonable price for a lifetime plan
Cons
  • Slow downloads and occasional hangs
  • Fewer platforms supported compared to peers
  • Some subtitle language gaps
  • Strictly limited free trial (only 6 minutes)

4. TunePat Videogo All-in-one

steve
Steve
Best for people who prefer per-service tools with clear docs and support pages.

TunePat maintains a catalog of per-platform downloaders (Netflix/Prime/Disney+/Hulu/Max/Paramount+) exporting to MP4/MKV with multiple audio tracks (5.1 available on select services). Their official help center is notably thorough, documenting licensing transfers and refunds well.

It supports both H.264 and H.265 encoding. H.264 offers maximum device compatibility, while H.265 keeps file sizes smaller without sacrificing quality.

tunepat

During testing, Disney+ ran seamlessly. However, pulling from Max required me to restart the process a few times, specifically when toggling the video quality settings (like switching from "Best" to "Good").

Similar to MovPilot, TunePat's free trial restricts you to downloading only the first 5 minutes of any video, limiting your ability to verify full-file integrity before buying.

Pros
  • Clear and intuitive UI
  • Excellent performance on Disney+
Cons
  • No built-in browser for seamless navigation
  • Requires pasting URLs manually
  • Limited free trial (only 5 minutes)

5. VideoHunter

steve
Steve
Best for people who mainly need YouTube/social-site downloads with occasional OTT.

VideoHunter focuses on 5 major streaming services but boasts support for 1,000+ video sharing sites. It features robust batch downloads, MP4/MP3 extraction, and handles 4K/8K on select public sources.

Aside from the all-in-one suite, VideoHunter offers single products like an OnlyFans Video Downloader. Moving into 2026, they have also steadily expanded their Android app capabilities.

videohunter

When running heavy playlists through VideoHunter, the software stalled twice. It appears sensitive to high concurrency tasks. Dialing back the simultaneous download limit resolved the crashing.

Pros
  • Features a dedicated Android app
  • Handles 4K/8K quality well on social platforms
  • Supports audio-only MP3 extraction
Cons
  • No lifetime plan available
  • Extremely limited OTT platform support (only 5)

6. iTubeGo

steve
Steve
Best for users wanting a mature YouTube-first tool with batch and conversion.

iTubeGo is a veteran downloader specializing in batch jobs, full playlist ripping, and audio conversion. It holds very positive public reviews, primarily from users extracting content from YouTube.

Although the marketing claims support for 10,000+ sites, my attempt to pull a Disney+ movie failed entirely. It is safe to assume that "10,000 sites" largely refers to open web platforms and excludes heavy DRM-protected OTT streaming services.

itubego

During testing on macOS, iTubeGo caused significant CPU spikes when transcoding multiple files simultaneously, pushing the fans to maximum speed. Furthermore, whenever a major source website updates its backend architecture, the app breaks entirely until the developers push a manual patch.

Pros
  • Runs exceptionally well for YouTube and open sites
  • Supports 4K/8K resolutions
Cons
  • CPU spikes under heavy transcode loads
  • Poor performance on premium streaming (OTT) platforms

Risks And Compliance: Read Before Using Extra Tools

DRM, Copyright & Terms (Region-Dependent)

Major streaming platforms license content for personal, in-app viewing, and their Terms of Use generally restrict copying or access outside approved methods.

Practically, this means any tool that makes a permanent local copy can conflict with platform rules—even if you pay for the subscription. Learn your local laws and your provider's ToS before you download.

Account Security & Blocking

Aggressive automation and repeated failed license checks can trigger security reviews. If you value your main account, use the trial carefully, avoid excessive downloads, and don't share credentials across random sites.

Choose tools that have a clear limit on daily downloads (like KeepStreams' 100 limit). Artificial daily quotas help shield your account from raising bot-behavior red flags on streaming platforms.

drm

Personal, Offline-Only

Even if personal copying is tolerated in some regions, redistributing files is highly illegal. Keep everything offline, strictly personal, and respect creators and service agreements. When in doubt, stick to the provider's built-in downloads.

FAQs

Q1. Is CleverGet free?

A1. No, but CleverGet provides a limited free trial. Paid licenses are sold per tool or as an All-in-One bundle on annual/lifetime terms, starting at $164.95.

Q2. Why is CleverGet slow or stuck?

A2. Two common causes: site changes (needing an update) and login/DRM handshakes that time out. Try updating to the latest build, re-authenticating, lowering thread/concurrency, and clearing cache/cookies. Community guides suggest cache resets if downloads fail repeatedly.

Q3. What's the best CleverGet alternative for 4K?

A3. If your priority is 4K on mainstream platforms, test with the vendor's trial first—capabilities vary by title and DRM. For OTT platforms, KeepStreams performs better in video quality; For YouTube/social-type sources, VideoHunter/iTubeGo advertises high resolutions (even 8K) on supported sources.

Conclusion

I've summarized all the info about the 6 CleverGet alternatives, including features, pros, and cons. I also did a detailed comparison between the No.1 alternative, KeepStreams, and CleverGet.

If you're price-sensitive or only need one service, start with per-service apps (SameMovie/TunePat). If you need many sites and want one interface, shortlist KeepStreams or MovPilot and validate with the trial.

Hope you find this article worth reading, and find the most suitable tool that can meet your download requirements perfectly. Finally, prices, promos, supported sites, and DRM rules change constantly. Always re-check the official page before you buy or renew.
