Discovery Plus Download With Ads: The Short Answer

The U.S. ad-supported plan has no official download option. Discovery Plus Ad-Free downloads are available for eligible titles through supported mobile apps. Changing devices will not add a download button to an account that remains on the plan with ads.

The current U.S. monthly prices are $5.99 with ads and $9.99 for Ad-Free, before applicable taxes. At these rates, Ad-Free costs $4 more per month, or $48 more over 12 months. This compares monthly charges; it does not mean you must commit to a year to use downloads.

Official Downloads: Devices, Steps, and Limits

Official downloads require an active Ad-Free subscription and a supported iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, or Amazon Fire tablet. Not every title is available to download, and saved videos stay inside the Discovery+ app.

Check your subscription source: These steps apply to the standalone discovery+ service. A subscription purchased through Prime Video Channels or The Roku Channel must be used in that provider's app and does not include access to the discovery+ app.

If discovery+ bills you directly, open your Subscription page, choose Change Your Plan, and select Ad-Free. If another provider bills you, follow that provider's plan-change instructions. Once Ad-Free is active, follow these steps:

1. Open the latest Discovery+ app on a supported phone or tablet, including Fire tablets, and sign in to your Ad-Free account.
2. Open an eligible movie or episode and tap its download icon.
3. Wait for the download to finish, then open Downloads and select the saved title when you are ready to watch offline.

100 Downloads and Expiry Windows

Ad-Free subscribers can keep up to 100 titles downloaded at a time. Check each title's expiry notice in Downloads. Once playback begins, the download expires within 48 hours, so avoid starting an entire trip queue just to test it.

These are key Discovery Plus download limits. To renew an expired title, open Downloads, select its Expired icon, and choose Renew Download. Renewal is unavailable if the title has left discovery+.
